The first Jerusalem Marathon will take place tomorrow Friday March 25th. The start and finish points are in the Gan Sacher area near the Israel Museum and the Knesset.
The Jerusalem Marathon route takes the runners through many different areas of Jerusalem including inside the Old City between Jaffa Gate and Zion Gate. The route itself has many fine views – by the Old City, along the Tayelet and from Mount Scopus. It also includes some impressive hills that will ensure that it is a memorable run!
The Jerusalem Marathon includes a full marathon (42.2Km), a half marathon (21.1Km) and a 10Km and 4.2Km charity fun run. We can reveal the answer to the burning question – the color of the race shirts – fluorescent yellow-green.
The Jerusalem weather over the last couple of days has been lots of quite heavy rain with some bright intervals. The forecast for tomorrow includes showers and a little warmer, so hopefully it should be a good day for running.
As for training – well it is too late now – as a friend of mine said – the main elements of any good training plan are to rest and to eat lots of pasta!!
Israel Inside Out wishes all the runners lots of good luck!
