Cycling in Tel Aviv Port

Between Jaffa and Tel Aviv Port is a five-kilometer-long bike lane along the breathtaking Mediterranean Sea. It is, of course, perfect for biking.

Biking is an absolutely an exciting way to spend a day cruising along the seaside with friends. You can do a lot of other things along the way such as sight-seeing, picture-taking, picnicking, and going to nearby cafes and restaurants, with palm trees, joggers, fellow bikers, and tourists all around. Besides, it’s also a more healthy, safe, and eco-friendly way of getting around the city.

You can get guided biking tours, with different options that cater to your needs and budget.

Tel Aviv Port is considered one of the finest areas in the city. It is known for its lively and dynamic nightlife with a line of several bars and clubs, lots of places to shop, restaurants, cafes, places for picnics and the famous port market.

The meeting point of most of the Tel Aviv cycling options is the popular Tel Aviv port. Enjoy the cool sea breeze as you head to the port. It makes a perfect way station – stretch a bit, soak in the view and stock up on some fuel at one of the cafes.

The best option is to slowly meander along the wooden trail by the shops and the sea (watch out on the wet bits – they can be very slippery – we are aware of people with broken limbs).

The ride through Tel Aviv Port is one of the nicest and the most pleasant. The ride is within a few inches’ distance of the water — it’s so near that fine mist from the waves will occasionally hit you as you are biking along. As you reach the northern end of the port, there’s a bridge over the Yarkon River, which flows out to the sea. The bridge is wide enough to bike on. Across the bridge, you can see the power plant right above you.

If you are in a hurry, then there is an access road and car park that will allow you to avoid the pedestrian crowds.

To people who are not in great physical shape, don’t worry. There’s no reason to be afraid. The entire route is flat, and you don’t have to go out and bike during the hottest hours of the day! You’re also likely to enjoy the pleasantly cool breeze from the Mediterranean Sea. Why go biking when you are thinking of too much things? Just enjoy the ride! We hope you have enjoyed yourself.
