Mahane Yehuda Shuk
Mahane Yehuda Market (The Shuk) is a well known Jerusalem landmark serving as Jerusalem’s main fresh produce market. It is always bustling and takes on an increasingly frenzied atmosphere in the run up to Shabbat and any of the festivals. People travel from far and wide to buy in the “shuk” – vegetables, poultry, fish, spices and their favorite treats.
Mahane Yehuda Urban Art
Over recent times some aspects of the shuk have changed – Mahane Yehuda now has several cafes – some part of well known chains and others more individual – a major revolution for the Mahane Yehuda.
There is now an Urban Art Exhibition in the streets around Mahane Yehuda. The exhibition includes works by photographers, sculptors and artists. It has a Jerusalem and Mahane Yehuda theme – with a sculpture (from recycled material) of Jerusalem’s legendary mayor Teddy Kollek and items dedicated to the shuk. In the evenings some of the artists are at work.
The Mahane Yehuda Urban Art Exhibition is being staged in Dekel, HaShikma, and Beit Yaacov Streets in the Mahane Yehuda area.
