The Golan is a very different place when compared to some parts of Israel – some very imposing landscape when viewed from the Kinneret; lush and verdant from the very northern parts of the Kinneret, yet on top a fairly flat plain (with some deep wadis and valleys). There is a feeling of much more space up here – more room and more air.
The Galilee - two seas, two ranges of mountains, lots of villages, walks and magical spaces. Here are some of our favourite places.
Zefat a city of artists and Kabbala set in the mountains. One of the key battles in 1948, but with a history hundreds of years old. Wander through the Zefat old town artists' colony and visit the synagogues of the Kabbalists in the Old Jewish Quarter. If you can manage a Shabbat in Safed – it is highly recommended – go on a synagogue crawl.
